World Mental Health Day

Our mental health is just like our physical health; everybody has it and we need to take care of it. Mental health problems affect around one in four people. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Mental health problems can affect anyone. Mental health is everyone’s business. We all have times when we feel down or stressed. Most of the time those feelings pass but sometimes they develop in to a more serious problem and that could happen to any one of us. Everyone is different. You may bounce back from a setback while someone else may feel weighed down by it for a long time. Your mental health doesn’t always stay the same. It can change as circumstances change.

There’s a stigma attached to mental health problems. This means that people feel uncomfortable about them and don’t talk about them. Many people don’t even feel comfortable talking about their feelings but it’s healthy to know and say how you’re feeling.

Mental health issues are very common and it varies depending upon the level at which it is displayed, nagative stress is a type of mental health problem; shouting for no reason; not talking about your experienced problem and handling multiple tasks with stress and keeping them in your mind also can result to mental health illness. Nervous breakdown and mental breakdown are dated terms describing emotional or physical stress that temporarily makes someone unable to function in day-to-day life.
Better you go talk to a special about your negative stress impact so you don’t have a mental meltdown.

Taking good care of our mental health is key as it determines our sanity to a large extent.
We need to help one another maintain a sane mental health by ensuring we treat everyone next to us with utmost dignity and value. We need to be sensitive to people who feel hurt, cheated or abused in anyway by us or by other means.
Our encouragement, support and most importantly our genuine love can help bring them out of such bad situations. They need to be assured they have a shoulder to rest/lean on. Worst of all anyone could fall victim of bad mental health.
Lastly, we must ensure that our actions or inactions don’t drive others into a bad mental health. Be your neighbour’s keeper.
