So I’m celebrating Funke Akindele Bello today. An extraordinary woman who is such a huge inspiration to me. An actress, producer and philanthropist.
Funke Akindele was born on August 24, 1977 in Lagos State, Nigeria. She obtained an Ordinary National Diploma in Mass Communication from the former Ogun State Polytechnic and got a Law degree from the University of Lagos. Funke entered the limelight after starring in popular United Nations Population Fund sponsored sitcom “I Need to Know”, which ran from 1998 to 2002. Funke’s big break came in 2009 when she appeared in the movie Jenifa. In 2009, Funke won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a leading Role. Funke has received numerous awards since then.
Funke Akindele Bello runs a non-governmental organisation known as the Jenifa Foundation which aims to nurture talents and provide young people with vocational skills. Funke Akindele is the producer of Jenifa’s Diary and also the CEO of Sceneone TV.
She is truly a source of inspiration and a phenomenal woman!
