Lola Omolola

I celebrate an amazing woman today. A woman who has inspired so many. Lola Omolola is the first Nigerian woman who created a place where other women can share their untold stories regarding their sexual abuses, and other challenges they are facing. Lola founded the Female IN (FIN) group on Facebook in 2014. A group that connects 1.7 million+ women from across the world.

Lola completed her primary and secondary studies in Nigeria. After moving to the United States, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia College in Chicago. Lola founded the Female IN (FIN) group, searching for a way to create mutual support with other Nigerians after the kidnapping of over 300 girls by the Boko Haram.

Lola’s work has been recognised by Mark Zuckerberg and other Facebook officials for creating a positive impact through the social media platform. Lola is now planning to move forward with FIN by providing centre where women can go to talk about their experiences in a safe place. Lola was featured in the 2018 Facebook F8 Conference.

Lola’s goal is to help women who are struggling with life, but cannot tell anyone about their issues because of tradition. In many countries like Nigeria, girls and women are voiceless. So FIN is for those voiceless women who have nobody to listen and encourage them.

“The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description”- Steve Maraboli

An person that see’s evil and does something about it so as to correct the situation, such a person should be celebrated, Lola Omolola is such a person.

Lock up your libraries if you like; but there is no gate, no lock, no bolt that you can set upon the freedom of my mind.
Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.
Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves…
