Flying Officer Tolulope Oluwatoyin Sarah Arotile, you made the headlines when you were winged as Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot since the inception of the Nigerian Airforce (NAF). This was a dream fulfilled for you and Nigeria could boast of more gallant females daring to take up this military role.
Little did we know that we would lose you to the cold hands of death on the 14th July 2020, barely 9 months in the noble service to your motherland. It was a sad day for the members of Arotile family, the Nigerian Airforce (NAF) and the Nigerian nation.

The nation lost a heroine who was dedicated and passionate about her chosen career. Many question your death, many are demanding for a thorough investigation into your way and manner of death. In all of these, we take solace in the fact that you lived your childhood dreams and your bravery will be forever cherished in the hearts of every Nigerian.

Certainly, in the hearts of many Nigerians you’re already a monument as you lived your short life serving and defending the nation in your own capacity against banditry and terror.
Tolulope’s death reminds us all to unapologetically pursue and live our dreams. It further reminds us to positively contribute our quota to humanity and lead lives worthy of emulation. I pray to God to grant her family the fortitude and strength to bear this great loss. Continue to rest in peace Flying Officer Arotile Tolulope Oluwatoyin Sarah β€π
