Chelsea Tayui

Passionate, selfless, considerate are not enough words to characterise this beautiful young lady who is born to be great. At an early age, she had a distinct attraction for pageantry. Like every little princess’ dream, she fantasised about winning pageants. And that’s exactly what she did… Miss Universe Ghana!

Raised by African parents, Chelsea was born in the U.S to migrants who lived most of their lives in Africa until they relocated. Despite being born in America, she grew up in a structured African home where career paths are one or the other – a doctor or lawyer. Uninspired by a daughter’s dream of pageantry, Chelsea’s mother stood by her and realised what a gem Chelsea was. Today, Chelsea’s family are her biggest support system.

Miss Universe Ghana, Chelsea Tayui, is using her crown to raise awareness. Chelsea is a 25-year-old communications executive with a host of humanitarian work experience with many NGOs, prior to her pageant competing days. Before joining the Miss Ghana Universe pageant, Chelsea worked with KJM Foundation. Part of the philanthropic work involved relieving penurious villages by providing bore holes, running water, and educational supplies so they can have a “normal life”. After winning the crown, she went on a special mission to raise awareness for Autism within the Ghanaian community to help eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness.

As proactive as she is, Ms Tayui is working with different speech pathologists and advocating for early childhood interventions to help parents with autistic children. She strives to use her platform as Miss Universe Ghana rippling across nations, speaking for autistic individuals. Her devotion to philanthropy was cultivated with every project executed while working with NGOs. Chelsea is keen to replicate her passion by collaborating with NGOs and speech pathologists globally.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from DePaul University in Chicago, USA, Chelsea Tayui is anticipating holding different seminars to continue the education leaning on her communication credentials.
