Once upon a time
many moons ago
a prayer, a wish for a life,
the embodiment of honour,
the aura and grace
of which would fill a home
with every shade of wealth,
abundant and endless;
had reached heaven.

Heaven rejoiced and granted
light showers upon the earth,
as it readied the porter’s wheel
for HIS newest masterpiece.

God took dust
sprinkled and spangled
with the kindness of his glory
his love
and the pleasure of his beauty
and formed a man.

Bathed him in wealth and health
and gave him breath.
A breath of glorious light and life.

A life in retrospect
borne for blessings:
seven decades past,
and seven years shy of an eight.

This gracious life,
every day a testament
to a wish made:
a prayer for Ola
that is sufficient and surplus;
both in life
and at home,
has lived and thrived.

He thrived because he found a love so rare.
The love of a queen with whom he nurtured stars,
priceless and honourable.
One then six,
blessed and unique,
yet mirrors of his love and devotion.

He reflected God’s kindness.
Sought HIM and never wavered.
He loved all,
loved more.

He rode the skies,
Safely bringing the farthest near.
Bringing hope, happiness and families together.
A life of service lived for humanity,
lived selflessly.
A captain with a distinguished career.

He held with warmth, love and a firm hand.
He is my strength,
my unfailing support,
my place of comfort,
mom’s unfading crown,
Ansel’s grandpa,
my Dad.
