World Suicide Prevention Day. It’s Okay to Talk!

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. This is an awareness day observed on 10 September every year, in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides. This year, the theme for World Suicide Prevention Day is ‘Working Together to Prevent Suicide’.

You never really know what another person is dealing with so be kind. Just listening to what someone has to say and taking it seriously can be very helpful. I encourage anyone with suicidal thoughts to reach out for help. Let your family or friends know what’s going on. Life will throw many obstacles in our life’s path that will make us sad or disappointed at times. But dealing positively with these obstacles is what makes the difference! You’re stronger than you think and you’re going to get through the tough times. You never know what tomorrow may bring so don’t ever give up on life.

Some of the factors that can show that someone is at risk of feeling suicidal are:

  • Feeling depressed, withdrawn and anxious
  • Loss of interest in hobbies, work, socialising or even in their appearance
  • Expressing feelings of hopelessness or purposelessness
  • Acting impulsively or in a reckless way and not caring what happens to them
  • Talking about suicide, death or dying or wanting it to all end

Is not the end of the road, frustration, depression, anxieties these are reasons for suicidal cases, but no matter any situation will find ourselves we need to move on…. And forge ahead to what is in the future.. dwelling on problems too much can cause you to commit suicide.. TKS sis for these amazing topic that affect all humans, forge ahead and move on that is the key.

Most sucide victim’s do show or exhibit some withdrew syndromes. A person whose presence is always noticed and now suddenly is often in the background/shadows, sucide victims are always trying to communicate to people around them mostly indirectly for example they start talking negatively about themselves, they keep away from friends and family, somethings he/she start displaying characters which aren’t know of them, peaching fights here and there, very good listening hear, make them see reasons to be happy, help recommend an expert to help and even accompany them to the clinic atleast the first opportunity, he/ she shouldn’t be lift isolated as much. Put away all injurious objects and substances around such a person e.g. medications (drugs, chemical etc). Family support is of the utmost importance, show and let him/her know and feel that he/she plays a very important role in the family so still has a lot to contribute to the success and development of both the family and the world.
